The ticketed education programme for KS2 and KS3 is offered on Monday 24th to Thursday 27th September inclusive. It does not confine schools and colleges to these times – there are many events suitable for students and children through the festival week, including our theatre programme.
The Key Stage 2 and Key Stage 3 experiences are listed below. There are also free ‘after school’ talks open to schools and the public, and talks around 6pm each day which are particularly suitable for students with a particular scientific or heritage interest.
All tickets for KS2 and KS3 experiences are £2 per child. There is no charge for the 4.15pm/4.30pm after schools talks , and the 6pm/6.30pm tickets are £4.

KS2 Monday 24th to Thursday 27th inclusive
Meeting Newton and The Apothecary – at Woolsthorpe Manor and the George Centre with bus transport provided between the two venues –
Experience 1 begins at Woolsthorpe at 10am and finishes at The Apothecary in the George Centre, Grantham at 1pm
Experience 2 begins at The Apothecary in the George Centre at 10am and finishes at 1pm
Meeting Newton: A facilitated visit to Woolsthorpe Manor where Isaac Newton was born, meeting him in person at one of the most creative points in his life and explore with him his experiments with light as well as learning about his life and childhood at Woolsthorpe.
The Apothecary: Visit an Apothecary shop of Newton’s time. Meet the Apothecary’s and learn what they did and why; as well as helping them make some cures and lotions. Discover the impact that living with an apothecary had on Newton’s childhood and his understanding of the world.
Experience 1 and 2 are suitable for single class groups of around 30 pupils per class. Please note disabled access at Woolsthorpe is limited. Please inform us if any students are wheelchair users.

The Stardome and Alchemy – at St Wulfram’s Grantham and Guildhall St Grantham (short walking distance apart)
Experience 3 begins at 9.30 am at Stardome (St Wulfram’s) moves on to Alchemy (Guildhall St). Finishes at noon.
Experience 4 beings at 9.30am at Alchemy (Guildhall St) and moves on to Stardome (St Wulfram’s). Finishes at noon
Experience 5 begins at 12.30 at Alchemy (Guildhall St) and moves on to Stardome (St Wulfram’s). Finishes at 3pm.
Experience 6 begins at 12.30 at Stardome (St Wulfram’s) and moves on to Alchemy (Guildhall St). Finishes at 3pm
The Stardome: Visit the National Space Centre’s planetarium and explore and discover the night sky and the myths and legends of the constellations, and learn more about our universe and those beyond.
Alchemy: Visit the illegal alchemists’ laboratory hidden away in Grantham. Help the alchemist experiment and strive to create the ‘philosophers’ stone’ and learn about Isaac Newton’s passions for Alchemy even though it was illegal while he lived.
This experience is suitable for no more than 30 students and adults at one time as the Stardome capacity is limited to 30 child-sized people and the Alchemy has limited space.

KS2 Feel the Force show from The Science Museum
Grantham Guildhall Arts Centre – theatre
Approx one hour duration
Shows at 9.30am, 11.15am and 1.45pm each day
Feel the Force explores some of the most important work of our favourite scientist! Sir Isaac Newton and Phil the Stunt Frog join forces in this fast-paced action-packed extravaganza. Join us on a trip to the Leaning Tower of Pisa, Ancient Greece, the moon and the Highland Games, as we take a closer look at the forces that shape our world.

An audio promenade drama tour commissioned for the Gravity Fields Festival. Follow in the footsteps of Newton as the journey of his life interweaves with stories of Grantham past and present. In partnership with BBC Lincolnshire, BBC Outreach and the University of Lincoln.
